Nick works from his studio; an old bakery overlooking the Staffordshire countryside. His work is a figurative collection of oxidised silver jewellery and charms bearing words, messages of hope and affection. Many pieces have moving parts and opening doors with intricate gold detail.
Outlets and exhibitions include: Ruthin Craft Centre, Museum of the Jewellery Quarter Birmingham, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Manchester Craft Centre, Insel Galerie Germany, The Steensons Belfast, Craft Council at the V&A Museum London. My work is really an exploration of decoration using many sources of inspiration, the main ones being the rich symbolism of the Catholic Church, the trappings of royalty, playing cards and chess, calligraphy and the language of symbolism. Food and confectionary are the source for some of my most recent pieces.
