Artist's Statement
Kate’s beaded designs take their cue from natural forms, growth patterns and textures, and incorporate her love of beautiful gemstones and vintage glamour. Her 'Talisman' collection is influenced by Middle Eastern and Indian jewellery and transforms simple curb chains into a tactile, fabric-like structure reminiscent of crochet or lace.
Largely self-taught, Kate has always felt compelled to make things and enjoys the slow, meditative process of her craft. After graduating with a French degree she worked as a museum curator before turning her passion for jewellery into a career in 2005. Starting out in London markets Spitalfields and Portobello, she quickly gained a following and now sells her work through boutiques and galleries internationally.
After 5 years at award-winning creative hub Cockpit Arts in London's Holborn, Kate is now based in the vibrant and creative city of Bristol in the South West of England.
