About John Moore

From an early age, John Moore was fascinated by nature and drawn to making things. His favourite creations included masks, puppets, kites, and simple automata—objects that could be worn, handled, and brought to life through movement. Alongside this, he explored dance, acting, and music.

Throughout his education, John pursued many creative disciplines but consistently returned to making objects for the body. Jewellery became the focus of the final year of his degree in 3D Design and has since developed into a lifelong practice. It serves as a way to process the world and express appreciation for the beauty of nature and our place within it. Whether subtle or bold, each piece is intended to carry an energy that is felt as much as it is seen.

John's work draws on a wide range of materials and processes, from traditional techniques to experimental approaches. While anodised aluminium is a particular favourite for its lightness and decorative qualities, no single material defines his practice. Sometimes the material itself sparks an idea; at other times, a concept leads the process, with materials chosen for their unique properties.
