Artist's Statement
Janet Brooke is a printmaker who specialises in the urban landscape, from the minutiae on the street to the broad sweep of the modern city. Her complex screenprints and linocuts aim to capture something of the essence of a place rather than a simple representation.
Her latest work is an attempt to portray the City of London as it appears now: a crazy mix of new developments, ancient monuments, chaotic building sites and the spaces in between.
