About Carolyn Sara
Carolyn is fuelled by her obsession with colour and a compulsion to make. She knits bright & bold pieces using vintage knitting machines in her signature patterns, using traditional fair isle techniques.
Her obsession with knitting began at 8 years old when she knitted a stripy scarf for her beloved stuffed toy, however it wasn’t until she studied fashion design at Northumbria University, specialising in knitwear that she truly fell in love with knitting and discovered the endless possibilities a strand of yarn can create.
Her Persian heritage has influenced her love for daring colour combinations & geometric patterns. She has always had a fascination with the 1920’s, particularly Art Deco architecture, which inspires many of her patterns.
All pieces are made from cruelty-free merino lambswool, spun & dyed in an independent mill in Yorkshire. Carolyn then knits each piece individually, row by row, in her Manchester studio inside an old cotton mill.
