Artist's Statement
I started making bags as a hobby in my native Sydney, some 35 years ago. One-off quirky pieces sold to private and public collectors. A stunning red aluminium attaché case won me a grant to research the leather industry in Europe. As a consequence, I moved to Italy in 2000, then to Britain in 2003 to teach at London College of Fashion (resigned in 2008). Curves in women, nature and design, as well as negative spaces seen in a building, a car or an abstract painting inspire me. Architectural shapes, contemporary designs with a retro look, bright colours, aluminium details, clean lines and high quality leather define my creations.
