MIZUHO KOIZUMI

About the Artist

Silversmith Mizuho Koizumi's work combine man-maid materials with plant life. Her design philosophy is to create pieces that fuse these elements so that they " apper to be growing together in harmony to recreate the silent beauty that plants possess." Her work pays homage to flowers and plants such as the majestic rose, the fiery magnolia, the patriotic thistle and weeping willow, which in essence touches the emotions of viewer. Mizuho's new work expands on her development of an intricate process of weaving with silver to create sculptural yet fanctional open-weave basket forms, each incoporating a flower vase. Her pieces are designed to blend into domestic setting, being both practical and decorative.
