CLARA BREEN

STATEMENT

French jewellery designer-maker Clara Breen works with precious metals and gems, combined with fragments of leaflets, train tickets, maps or colourful paper. Clara's work plays with the notion of a contemporary keepsake.

Her paper and fine silver ring was recently featured on BBC Radio 4 ‘Woman’s Hour’, where her client discussed the commissioning process, and the memories contained in the paper layers sealed inside the ring.

From her studio in Cockpit Arts in London, Clara’s main focus is to create beautifully crafted pieces, they are at once precious, uncompromisingly modern and evocative. Geological strata -like patterns in paper inspire a precious range in gold and corrugated silver with gems.

In the past Clara worked with the gift shop in Tate Modern, where she created specially-commissioned pieces containing recycled Tate maps and leaflets.
