About Anna
Growth, revelation and transformation are ideas that continually appear within my work. These concepts were first explored through the combination and relationships of different materials, focusing on felt and silver.Forming both a powerful visual and tactile patnership, suggesting contrasts between strength and dependence, coolness and warmth, solidity and softness, etcetera these materials also hold strong personal associations for me with my childhood and subsequent growing independence in the adult world. The arrangement and design of my work deliberately reflects this emotional dimension, whilst also possessing an independent allure in its simplicity and strength. I first began to mix textiles with metal whilst studying Jewellery at Middlesex University and have contined to develop my Felt range at my current placement at the Bishopsland Post Graduate Workshops. At the same time I am developing a solely precious metal range that runs with the same theme, using oxidization, texture and a mix of gold with silver in place of the felt, whilst retaining the tactility of the work which is so important to me.
