About Antonello Figlia
Antonello Figlia is a London based Italian jewellery designer whose work take inspiration from Optical Art, Graphic Design and photography.
In his ‘Optic’ jewellery collection, he embodies precision and originality reflecting intricate patterns and illusions where geometric shapes are combined, alternated, duplicated, or inverted creating a playful effect to the eye in a harmonious blend of innovation and craftsmanship.
Antonello qualified in jewellery design from London Art Colleges, the Sir John Cass University and finally the GIA for a gemmology training.
He specialises in photo-etching, a laborious and time-consuming technique used in computer manufacturing that allow to transfer an image by exposing a photosensitive film using UV lights to the metal before the etching process, this allow the artist a deeper precision and design complexity that are impossible to achieve by drawing freehand.
Working in Sterling Silver and 18kt Gold Antonello Figlia’s jewellery has shown in galleries across the UK and the Madrid Museum of Decorative Arts.
