Aillie Anderson creates dynamic, minimal adornment and small scale sculpture using a combination of uniquely textured, precisely scored silver and hand cast jesmonite forms. Born and based in Glasgow, Aillie draws inspiration from the built environment, particularly the architecture and industrial features of the city and explores scale, texture and materials to highlight her appreciation of these overlooked details and reinterpret them into treasured pieces of jewellery and objects.
Artist's Statement
Aillie Anderson is a Silversmith and Jeweller who graduated from the Glasgow School of Art, Silversmithing and Jewellery Ba (Hons) with distinction in 2017. Aillie’s work draws inspiration from the built environment around Glasgow, particularly the modern architecture and industrial structures of the city aiming to explore her appreciation of these overlooked details within the urban setting. Through her work she intends to explore the relationship between the physical scale of these existing structures, by reinterpreting them into visually stimulating, silverware and adornment. Aillie uses a combination of distinctively textured, precisely scored silver alongside hand cast jesmonite forms to generate a divergence between material, surface and weight.
