Artist's Statement
Abbie Gaiger is a jewellery designer and maker based in Birmingham. She graduated in 2016 with a BA (Hons) in Jewellery Design & Related Products from Birmingham School of Jewellery, with her graduate collection being awarded runner-up of the RBSA Gallery Prize for Innovation & Creativity. Following a year at the School of Jewellery as an Artist in Residence, Abbie has continued to develop her unique designs from her studio in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter.
Abbie designs and makes bold fashion jewellery based on geometry, symmetry and patterns found within mathematics. She combines digital processes such as CAD and laser cutting with traditional metal hand skills such as piercing and scoring, and enjoys contrasting metal with unexpected new materials. Her product range includes pendants, necklaces, earrings and brooches - all of which are statement-making and unconventional, while remaining wearable, playful and colourful.
